TAKE A TRIP TO THE WINTER SPORTS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

SKI MAGAZINE'S #1 RESORT FOR OFF-HILL ACTIVITIES

How many times have you dreamed of playing ball at Yankee Stadium, shooting hoops at Madison Square Garden? Well, when it comes to winter sports, you can do more than just dream. You can:

Go ice skating on the very same track where speed skater Eric Heiden won an unprecedented five gold medals in 1980.

Take a bobsled ride on the same course where the mile-per-minute barrier was broken.

Luge down the world's newest facility for bobsled, luge and skeleton.

These world class facilities are open for you to create your own Adirondack adventure.

And if you like to watch, there’s no better place to be a spectator. These are the same facilities where medals are still won, and miracles continue to happen. The world’s greatest winter athletes train and compete regularly in these and other sites like our ski jump and ice skating arena...the site of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” which Sports Illustrated named "the sporting event of the century". It all happened right here in Lake Placid, and it’s still happening.

In the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, 24 of the USA's 35 medals came through Lake Placid. That’s no coincidence. Neither is the fact that major ski publications continue to rate us at the top of the list when it comes to off-hill activities.
